Automotive packaging is connected to handling and delivery arrangements as well as the part itself. Readers examining SPG’s automotive offering can prepare a sequence checklist before comparing a rack, kit or other proposed system.

Map the part through the handling sequence

Identify the component revision, loading arrangement, handling equipment and destination requirements supplied to the designer. Ask how the proposal addresses the relevant sequence. A package suitable for one movement or presentation format may require additional review when the operating context changes.

Keep product protection, delivery sequencing and return logistics as separate questions in the same file. A sector page describes an offering, not the details of a particular plant or customer programme. The project record should identify which assumptions have been confirmed and who will review changes.

Questions to put in the file

  1. Which part and revision define the project?
  2. What loading and handling sequence is expected?
  3. Which destination requirements were communicated?
  4. How are return movements or programme changes documented?

Worked example

A customer changes the presentation sequence for a part while keeping the same outer rack concept. The file records the new requirement and asks for the applicable design response. It does not assume that an unchanged rack appearance means the complete arrangement remains equivalent. The reply is tied to the revised project information.

What the record can establish

A handling sequence makes the requirement reviewable. Connect the proposed design to the actual part, movement and delivery context.
