Refurbishment review needs a condition record. Readers considering SPG’s recycling and refurbishment services can distinguish a proposed programme from evidence that a particular package was inspected, repaired or returned to use.

Record the package condition at each stage
Identify the package, inspection criteria, responsible party and disposition recorded at each relevant step. Keep repair, reuse and material-recovery categories distinct. A return movement does not by itself establish that the package was suitable for another use or that a repair was completed.
For a programme comparison, define how condition and losses will be tracked. This allows later readers to distinguish estimated service life from observed outcomes. A missing entry should prompt a specific question, not an assumption that a package was discarded, mishandled or successfully returned.
Questions to put in the file
- How is the package or batch identified?
- What condition criteria and inspection record apply?
- Who records repair, retirement or return to use?
- Which programme quantities are observed and which are estimates?
A practical evidence worksheet
| Field | What to retain |
|---|---|
| Identity | Package or batch reference |
| Condition | Inspection and responsible reviewer |
| Disposition | Repair, return to use or alternate route |
Worked example
A customer returns a batch of reusable packaging. The file records receipt, inspection and disposition separately. If some items require repair or another route, that information is retained in the programme record. The return count alone is not presented as the number successfully refurbished.
What the record can establish
Condition records make reverse logistics reviewable. Keep receipt, inspection, repair and reuse as separate evidence stages.
